Tissue Forceps — Pattern and Clinical Use
Tissue forceps are held like tweezers rather than locked like a clamp, and the teeth let the surgeon hold tissue securely with minimal pressure. Tooth counts are quoted as 1×2, 2×3 or more: a 1×2 tip is the general standard, while finer patterns such as the Adson are used where the tissue is delicate. Toothed patterns grip better but are more traumatic than smooth-jawed dressing forceps.
Tooth alignment is the whole specification. If the opposing teeth do not mesh exactly the forceps will either fail to hold or will tear the tissue they are meant to stabilise.

Material, Finish and Quality Control
We forge tissue forceps from AISI 420 martensitic stainless. Teeth are inspected under magnification for mesh and burr, and spring tension is set so the tips meet without over-travel. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on tooth mesh and spring tension, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
