Cuticle Pushers — Pattern and Clinical Use
Before a manicure the cuticle is softened and pushed back to expose the full nail plate, which both improves the appearance and gives polish a clean edge to meet. The pusher’s flat blade works along the nail surface at a shallow angle, and the opposite end usually carries a curette or pterygium remover for scraping residual cuticle tissue from the plate.
The pushing edge must be smooth and correctly radiused: too sharp and it scrapes the nail plate or damages the cuticle’s seal against infection, too blunt and it will not lift the cuticle at all.

Material, Finish and Quality Control
We forge Cuticle pushers from 316L austenitic stainless. The pushing edge is radiused and polished, since too sharp an edge scrapes the nail plate and damages the cuticle seal. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on pushing edge radius and polish, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
