Root Tip Picks — Pattern and Clinical Use
The root tip pick handles what nothing else can reach. Its extremely fine point is worked into the narrow space between a small fragment and the socket wall, then used to tease the fragment free with minimal force. It is a finesse instrument rather than a lever — applying real force to a pick this fine will bend or break it.
These are supplied straight and as left/right pairs, and are among the finest instruments in a surgical extraction kit. Point integrity under magnification is the only meaningful quality measure.

Points are inspected under magnification for integrity and fineness, since the instrument works by finesse in a space nothing coarser can enter. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on point integrity under magnification, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
