Suture Scissors — Pattern and Clinical Use
Cutting suture blunts a blade faster than cutting tissue does, which is why theatres keep dedicated suture scissors rather than using tissue scissors for the job. The blades are short and straight for control close to the knot, and the tips are blunted so the scissors can be brought against tissue without risk of nicking it while the suture is trimmed.
Because suture is the most abrasive routine material a scissor meets, tungsten-carbide inserts pay for themselves on this line faster than on almost any other. Serrated patterns hold fine monofilament that would otherwise slide forward on the blade.

Material, Finish and Quality Control
We forge Suture scissors from AISI 420 martensitic stainless. Blade meeting is tested on suture material rather than fabric, since suture is far more abrasive than the tissue a general scissor cuts. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on blade meeting tested on suture, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why not use tissue scissors on suture?
Suture is far more abrasive than tissue and blunts a fine blade quickly. Dedicated suture scissors protect the tissue scissors from that wear.
Why blunt tips?
So the scissors can be brought against tissue to trim a suture close to the knot without risk of nicking the tissue.
Are carbide inserts worth it here?
On this line more than most. Suture is the most abrasive routine material a scissor meets, so carbide inserts extend life substantially.
Can you manufacture these under our own brand?
Yes — full OEM and private label. We laser-mark your logo and catalog numbers, pack in your branded boxes, and work from your drawings, tech pack or a reference sample, with a pre-production sample approved before any bulk run.
Send your pattern list, drawing or a reference sample and we’ll quote MOQ, pricing and lead time — standard catalog or fully private-label.
