Senn Retractors — Pattern and Clinical Use
The Senn is the small-field retractor. One end carries a three-pronged rake for holding skin and subcutaneous tissue; the other a small flat blade for gentler retraction. That combination makes it the standard choice in minor surgery, plastic procedures, hand surgery and dermatological excisions, where the wound is shallow and the structures fine.
The rake prongs are supplied sharp or blunt. Sharp prongs hold skin edges firmly, blunt prongs are chosen where sharp points would risk injuring superficial structures — a distinction buyers should carry as separate catalog numbers.

Material, Finish and Quality Control
We forge Senn retractors from 316L austenitic stainless. Rake prongs are checked for even length and matched tip finish, since an uneven prong concentrates load on one point of the skin edge. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on prong length evenness, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Senn retractor used for?
Small, shallow fields — minor surgery, plastic and hand procedures, and dermatological excisions. One end rakes skin edges, the other gives flat retraction.
Sharp or blunt prongs?
Sharp holds skin edges firmly; blunt is chosen where sharp points could injure superficial structures. Stock both as separate catalog numbers.
Is it double-ended?
Yes — a three-pronged rake at one end and a small right-angled blade at the other, which is what makes it so useful in small fields.
Can you manufacture these under our own brand?
Yes — full OEM and private label. We laser-mark your logo and catalog numbers, pack in your branded boxes, and work from your drawings, tech pack or a reference sample, with a pre-production sample approved before any bulk run.
