Yankauer Suction Tubes — Pattern and Clinical Use
The Yankauer is the standard suction tip of general and oral surgery. Its rounded bulbous head cannot easily damage tissue if it contacts the field, and the perforations around the tip prevent it from sealing onto mucosa and pulling tissue into the lumen. The rigid shaft lets the assistant direct suction precisely without the tube collapsing, which is what a soft catheter cannot do.
The internal bore finish matters more than the exterior appearance. A rough or poorly deburred lumen traps protein and blood, which makes the instrument difficult to clean and is a genuine reprocessing complaint from sterile services departments.

Material, Finish and Quality Control
