Poole Suction Tubes — Pattern and Clinical Use
The Poole is designed for suctioning free fluid in the abdominal cavity, where a plain tip would immediately be blocked by bowel or omentum drawing against it. The perforated outer shroud keeps tissue at a distance so suction is drawn through many holes at once, letting the instrument clear large volumes of ascites, irrigation fluid or blood without occluding.
The outer shroud unscrews from the inner tube so both parts can be cleaned properly. That two-part construction is the reason the pattern works, and the thread must be robust enough to survive repeated disassembly without galling.

Material, Finish and Quality Control
We forge Poole suction tubes from 316L austenitic stainless. The shroud thread is cycled to confirm it disassembles cleanly without galling, and both the inner tube and shroud perforations are deburred. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on shroud thread and perforation deburring, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
