Dissecting Scissors — Pattern and Clinical Use
Dissecting scissors are used for both sharp and blunt dissection: cutting through tissue directly, and pushing closed blades into a plane then opening them to separate structures without cutting. Blade fineness is chosen for the tissue — heavier blades for tough planes, finer blades where structures are delicate. Curved patterns dominate because the curve lets the operator see past the tip.
The blunt-dissection role means these scissors are opened against tissue resistance repeatedly, which loads the pivot screw far more than pure cutting does. Screw-joint quality therefore determines service life more than edge quality on this pattern.

Material, Finish and Quality Control

Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on pivot joint tension and action, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
