Horses’ teeth erupt continuously and wear unevenly, forming sharp enamel points on the buccal edge of the upper molars and the lingual edge of the lower molars that lacerate the cheek and tongue. Floating rasps those points smooth. The long handle reaches the caudal molars, and the head angle determines which arcade the float can address.
Float blades are consumable and replaceable — carbide chip blades are now standard because they cut faster and last far longer than plain steel, and the blade is changed rather than the whole instrument.

Material, Finish and Quality Control

Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on blade seating and retention, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
