Vascular clamps achieve this through fine atraumatic jaw serrations and a graduated ratchet that lets the surgeon apply the minimum effective pressure. Jaw shape follows the application — straight, angled, curved or the distinctive Satinsky side-biting profile.
Jaw spring characteristics matter as much as serration pattern: the jaws must apply even pressure along their whole length, because a clamp gripping harder at the tip than the base leaks at one end and crushes at the other.

Material, Finish and Quality Control
We forge Vascular clamps from AISI 420 martensitic stainless. Jaw closing pressure is checked for evenness along the full length, since uneven pressure leaks at one end and crushes at the other. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on even jaw pressure along length, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
