Lambotte Osteotomes — Pattern and Clinical Use
The Lambotte is the reference straight osteotome. Driven with a mallet, its symmetrical double bevel cuts a straight controlled plane through bone for osteotomy, graft harvest and bone shaping. The solid handle is designed to take repeated mallet impact without mushrooming, and blade widths are chosen to match the cut — narrow blades for precise cuts, wide blades for broad osteotomies.
Because the instrument is struck repeatedly, the transition from blade to handle is the fatigue point. Forged one-piece construction is preferred over assembled patterns for that reason.

Material, Finish and Quality Control
We forge Lambotte osteotomes from AISI 420 martensitic stainless. The blade-to-handle transition is fatigue-tested, since repeated mallet impact concentrates stress at that junction. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on blade-handle junction under impact, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
