Wound and lesion measurement is how progress is documented objectively — a wound recorded as improving must be measured, not estimated. Gauges give a direct reading in millimetres against the tissue, and are used to size lesions before excision, document wound dimensions over time, and measure anatomical distances during procedures.
Graduation legibility after repeated autoclaving is the practical issue, which is why markings are etched or stamped rather than printed. Accuracy against a reference is what makes serial measurements comparable.

Material, Finish and Quality Control
We forge Measuring gauges from 316L austenitic stainless. Graduations are verified against a calibrated reference and checked for legibility after autoclave cycling. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on graduation accuracy and legibility, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
