Where nippers cut with a squeezing action, cuticle scissors cut with a shearing one, which some technicians prefer for precision along a curved cuticle line. The blades are short, fine and curved to follow the nail’s arc, and the tips are sharply pointed so a single hangnail can be taken without cutting surrounding tissue.
The curve must match the natural arc of the cuticle and the tips must meet exactly, since the whole value is cutting one small piece precisely. Blade length is deliberately short to keep the cutting action close to the hand for control.
