Monopolar Forceps — Pattern and Clinical Use
Monopolar forceps let the surgeon grasp a bleeding vessel and coagulate it directly, rather than touching a pencil electrode to the forceps. Current passes from the tip through the patient’s body to a return electrode on the skin, which means the coagulation effect extends further into tissue than bipolar — useful for bulk haemostasis, but requiring care near delicate structures.
Shank insulation is the safety-critical feature: a breach anywhere along the insulated length delivers current at that point instead of the tip, which can burn tissue well away from the surgical site. Insulation must be tested after repeated autoclaving.

| Insulated bayonet | Deep field access |
| Toothed tip | Secure tissue grip |

Material, Finish and Quality Control
We forge Monopolar forceps from 316L austenitic stainless. Full-length insulation is high-voltage tested after autoclave cycling, since a breach delivers current away from the intended site. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on insulation integrity along full length, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
Who Sources Monopolar Forceps From Surgical Star
Monopolar forceps sell to general theatre suppliers and hospital distributors, with insulation testing and generator compatibility being the buying criteria.
OEM, Certification and Ordering
Every Monopolar forceps can be produced as a private-label line: your logo laser-marked on the shank, your catalog numbers, and your own printed packaging, manufactured from your drawings or a reference sample. Manufactured under an ISO 13485 quality system, CE-marked to EU MDR 2017/745 and covered by US FDA establishment registration. A certificate of conformity and an ASTM F899 material certificate for the exact steel grade ship with your order.
MOQs are low and new-brand friendly, and vary with pattern, finish and branding. Pricing is direct from the factory and tiered by volume. After you approve a branded pre-production sample, bulk production typically runs four to six weeks and ships worldwide DDP with HS codes handled. See how OEM & private label works →

Frequently Asked Questions
How does monopolar differ from bipolar?
Monopolar current passes from the tip through the patient’s body to a return electrode. Bipolar current passes only between two tips, confining the effect to grasped tissue.
Why is insulation so critical?
A breach in the insulation delivers current at that point rather than the tip, which can burn tissue well away from the surgical site.
Are they autoclavable?
Yes, and insulation is tested after autoclave cycling because repeated sterilisation is what eventually degrades it.
Can you manufacture these under our own brand?
Yes — full OEM and private label. We laser-mark your logo and catalog numbers, pack in your branded boxes, and work from your drawings, tech pack or a reference sample, with a pre-production sample approved before any bulk run.
Send your pattern list, drawing or a reference sample and we’ll quote MOQ, pricing and lead time — standard catalog or fully private-label.
