Bozeman Forceps — Pattern and Clinical Use
The double S-curve is what defines this instrument. It allows the operator to reach into the uterine cavity along its natural axis while keeping the handle clear of the perineum and the line of sight — a straight forceps simply cannot follow that path. They are used for uterine packing, swabbing and removing debris after procedures.
Jaws are serrated to grip gauze packing securely, and the pattern is supplied with and without a ratchet. Ratcheted versions hold packing during placement; non-ratcheted versions allow faster release.

Material, Finish and Quality Control
We forge Bozeman forceps from 316L austenitic stainless. The S-curve is gauged for consistency and jaw serrations checked to grip gauze without shredding it. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on S-curve consistency and jaw grip, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
