Freeman Facelift Scissors — Pattern and Clinical Use
A facelift requires undermining a broad skin flap through a limited incision, working blind for much of the dissection. These scissors are long enough to reach the far edge of the flap, with fine blades that dissect the plane cleanly and blunt tips that reduce the risk of buttonholing the skin from beneath — a complication that is immediately visible in the result.
Because the dissection is largely blunt and performed by feel at distance, blade balance and spring in the shanks determine how much tactile feedback reaches the surgeon’s hand. Serrated patterns hold tissue that would otherwise slide.

Material, Finish and Quality Control
We forge Freeman Facelift scissors from AISI 420 martensitic stainless. Shank balance and blade meeting are checked, since much of the dissection is performed by feel at distance from the incision. Each batch passes Rockwell hardness testing, dimensional checks on shank balance and blade meeting, and visual inspection under our ISO 13485 system before passivation and final finishing. Mirror and satin finishes are both available — satin is usually specified where glare under operating lights is a concern.
